The short stems of the crocuses hold them low to the ground. These beauties have the honor of being the first heralds of spring, bursting from the earth in vibrant purples, yellows and whites.
Daffodils stand tall and strong, facing the sun. At once they are bold and delicate, seeming to embody both the masculine and the feminine.
The tulips stand tall, like honor guards of beauty. Their assorted colors and striking centers foreshadow the glory of the coming longer days.
I haven't spoken with the flowers lately, but I have my suspicions. The crocuses don't hug the ground wishing and wishing they could stand tall like the daffodils. The daffodils don't face the sun lamenting the fact that the crocuses beat them to it. The tulips don't shed tears of sorrow because they lack the delicate faces of the daffodils. The flower that has lost some petals doesn't give up because of its woundedness. All of them seem to stand tall, even proud, in their uniqueness. Our gardens and the world are more beautiful because of this.
Take a moment and reflect on your own uniqueness, that gift that is magically yours. If you don't think you are unique, then look again and more deeply this time.
Imagine how much more wonderful the world would be if every one of us stood tall in his or her uniqueness like the spring bulbs in our gardens. Take a moment today to express that part of you that is unique. Sing a song. Dance a dance. Draw a picture. Cook something without a recipe. Remember that our lives are our ultimate creations!
