Lesson From Nature
A few years ago, the beautiful Issaquah Creek flowed past my office window. The creek changed significantly with the seasons. The salmon spawned and died there in the fall. The winter water ran high and fast, sometimes carrying entire trees that cleared anything in their path. In the spring and summer the water calmly meandered among the rocks.
My meditation group met at the edge of the creek in the summer, with our backjacks and sacred objects. A neighbor took to mowing his lawn each week when we were meditating. He did this for 15 minutes or so and then, when we obviously weren't bothered, he would go back inside, leaving the lawnmower wherever he had stopped. Everyone was so engaged in his or her process of connecting with a higher power, that the sound of the lawnmower was merely like the buzzing of a bee. Just like the bee of our minds that keeps us spinning and thinking rather than being and growing. This was good for a giggle each week.
I made it a habit to go out each day and stand on the pedestrian bridge over the creek. I did this to connect with nature and to generally clean my energy field and recharge myself. One day, while on the bridge I noticed a large spider hanging 10 feet over the creek in midair with no visible means of support. This was a fascinating sight and it got me to thinking that, one way or the other, we all have no visible means of support. We like to think that we create our circumstances and to some extent we do. It is the support of spirit, the support of the unseen web of life that makes all the difference in our lives!

The Strum Your Bliss (adult guitar class) in Bellevue is strumming along. To honor a new guitar in our group recently, we did a short meditation to commune with our guitars. We had a light snack and one of the students brought garlands for our guitars made out of fragrant herbs from her garden. Everyone seems be filled with inspiration after that and the playing just gets better and better. My Intuitive Healing work in my private practice continues to grow and expand. I have keenly focused on improving my physical health in the past two years. This powerful and intense process enables me to bring even more into each client session. There are invariably themes that emerge when one works with people privately, and currently the predominant themes are:
- Loosening the grip of the shadow
Learning to manage one's own energy field to curtail the influence of others
- Clearing trauma from the body, including karmic and ancestral
- Shifting the focus from the problem set to solution sets

Humanitarian Aid for Costa Rica
The natural beauty of Costa Rica was breathtaking and inspiring. We are very grateful for the prayers and support that came our way in many forms. I am in the process of founding my non-profit, "The Puerta Abierta Foundation". We are currently working on these two projects:
Escuela Meleruk
A school of 40 indigenous BriBri students ages 5-14 near the Caribbean coast which operates with very little. Donors have already given school supplies. We are seeking funds for uniforms ($10-12 each) and textbooks. We are also looking for a free or inexpensive laptop and printer.
Precario Carpio
A neighborhood of 34,000 people who live next to the garbage dump in San Jose, Costa Rica. They have no running water or outhouses. We are collecting materials to make care kits containing basic supplies. We are seeking donations of new toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, Band-Aids, aspirin, pens, small pads of paper, cloth bags and thin towels of any size. We also need short letters from children.

In Closing...
As I prepare my "e-news sign off" for the month, I am once again aware of the challenges many people are facing. Some have family members in Iraq. Some have family members in the hospital. Some have lost loved ones recently. Some are facing debt and financial struggles. Some are facing mind-numbing work that doesn't feed them. Some are very lonely. Some are struggling to recover from incidents of violence. Many are struggling with depression. Please join me in saying a prayer or meditating for all of those receiving this e-mail and all of your own friends and loved ones. Also, please include our world leaders, asking that they grow and evolve and begin actively solving the world's problems in a way that benefits all people and the environment.
May the warm spring sun kindle your creativity and may the drumming of each rain drop bring you more fully into the present moment.
